We are looking for a Marketing and Communications Officer within our Platform Service Team. You will have demonstrable experience in a marketing or communications role, as well as experience of dealing with a range of media including maintaining and developing websites. You will also have experience of writing case studies, blogs and other communications and using social platforms to develop communities.
Salary: £31,016 - £35,446 per annum
Contract period: Permanent
Reporting to: Marketing and Communications Manager
Team: Platform Services
Location: Oxford / hybrid working (up to full time from home, in line with Picker's remote and home working policy - must be based in the UK)
In this role, you will support the delivery of all internal and external communications activities, the delivery of PR strategies and campaigns to increase Picker's media profile and broader communication and organisation brand objectives. You will work to ensure the consistency and quality of all external communications and to disseminate the organisation's evaluation/improvement activity, research outputs and policy messages, via our website, newsletter and social channels.
This role
In this role, you will:
- Support the Marketing and Communications Manager in developing the organisation's communications strategy
- Help to implement communications initiatives
- Support the teams with the development and dissemination of effective marketing materials
- Provide editorial support and copywriting expertise to other teams so that accurate copy is produced in line with brand image and protocols
- Work collaboratively with other teams, creating strong links between other programmes and projects to ensure the successful implementation of marketing and communication campaigns
- To support the production of written content such as blogs and case studies
- Work with our PR consultant to distribute press releases and external content
- Monitor the media and wide external environment to identify opportunities for Picker to raise its media profile
- Support and implement a variety of internal communications to enhance employee engagement and retention
- Responsible for the day to day maintenance and ongoing development of the website
- Coordinate all social media activity
- Develop ideas for our social content to increase its appeal
- Monitor SEO rankings, optimise content and improve website performance
About You
You will have:
- Experience of working in a Comms or Marketing role
- Experience of dealing with a range of media
- Experience of using social platforms to develop communities
- Experience of maintaining and developing websites
- An interest in healthcare quality and person centred care
- Ability to work independently, initiating new communications activities under managerial direction
- Experience in using graphic design software such as Adobe InDesign or Photoshop

The Finance Manager is responsible for the day to day operation, management & control of the finance function, including the completion of all finance tasks including financial & management accounting. Reports directly to the Executive Director.
The post holder will have ambition and enthusiasm to drive change in the department to meet the needs of an evolving organisation.They will need experience of working closely with budget holders and ensuring financial processes are embedded.
The Finance Manager is responsible for the day to day operation, accuracy and integrity of the financial accounting systems within the organisation. They are responsible for producing monthly accounts, undertaking variance analysis and implementing financial controls
Responsibilities
Annual Audit
• Overseeing the preparation of the annual audit pack and the statutory audit process.
• Management of the annual audit, liaising with BFT’s auditors.
Financial Planning
• Work as necessary with the Executive Director in drawing up annual company budgets, production budgets, annual operating plans and cash-flows, and long-term financial planning.
Monthly Management Accounts
• Report against annual budget on a monthly basis.
• Accuracy and completeness of data input
• Maintaining Purchase ledger and supplier information.
• Supplier payments.
• Petty cash payments, control, reconciliation and filing.
• Assisting on the export and creation of financial reporting.
Reporting and Accounts
• All financial accounting duties.
• Production of draft Monthly Management accounts for the Belarus Free Theatre.
Person Specification
They will be a good communicator, with the ability to work with a range of staff across all departments, have excellent analytical and spreadsheet skills, hands on experience as well as a formal accounting qualification (or part qualification) such as AAT or ACCA/CIMA.
Essential
• Full or part qualified ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent)
• Experience of Sage Line 50 and Sage payroll
• Excellent and proven IT skills including excel (vlookup, pivot tables etc)
• Accounts preparation to TB and Management Accounts
• A proven track record of managing finance in a small to medium sized organisation
• An understanding of Charity VAT, TTR and PAYE
• Experience of Charity Accounts and SORP
• A good communicator and advocate for the department

The Community Fundraising Manager will be an integral part of a dynamic and unstoppable fundraising department.
The role will develop and implement strategies to cultivate grassroots fundraising across the UK in support of Sarcoma UK's mission. You will recruit, steward and enable a network of dedicated community fundraisers, volunteer fundraising groups and fundraising event hosts. Through excellent donor support, you will maximise fundraising from annual campaigns, challenge events, community activities and peer-to-peer initiatives.
You will also have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, a personable manner, and will embrace the desire to make a measurable difference. Working in areas the charity has not previously been able to dedicate a Community Fundraiser Manager to, you will be expected to work with the staff team and, internal and external networking groups, as well as building relationships and partnerships in the community.

Duties and key responsibilities
Community fundraising
- Manage and develop regional fundraising by devising a regional community fundraising strategy for income generation.
- Design and develop Sarcoma UK's calendar of annual community fundraising campaigns and events communication, including Cuppa and Cake.
- Introduce fundraising opportunities to our existing and potential supporters through a multi-channelled marketing strategy to grow levels of engagement and participation.
- Identify opportunities and recruit new community fundraisers, fundraising groups, corporate and school partners.
- Work with the Fundraising team to produce regular feedback reports and analysis on specific community products and overall revenue.
- Lead on promotion of community fundraising through digital marketing, PR, speaking engagements and on the ground fundraising.
Management
- Provide line management and day-to-day support to the Regional Fundraising Officer North, building their fundraising knowledge.
- Develop, manage, and monitor budgets for your areas of responsibility.
Income Generation
- Implement agreed KPIs, objectives and budget for the Regional Fundraising Team to drive support and engagement.
- Identify fundraising products, key accounts, and projects that will support income growth both locally and nationally.
- Responsible for monitoring and managing all income streams across all community fundraising lines including Gift Aid and working closely with the Operations Team.
Processes, administration, and reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date supporter records on Sarcoma UK’s database (Raiser’s Edge).
- Ensure all recording, and stewardship processes are up to date and working across the fundraising team, wider charity and in accordance with current laws and regulations.
- Ensure necessary Community Fundraising policies are up to date.
- Follow Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures including risk assessments to ensure a consistent approach and maintain a high level of support expected by our donors and fundraisers.
- Ensure that all activities are compliant with legislation governing fundraising including GDPR, health and safety, Institute of Fundraising, and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Conduct.
Wider fundraising
- Support company and corporate partnerships that utilise community and trade fundraising.
- Support third party fundraising and challenge event portfolio.
- Work with the Events Manager to develop merchandise and trade income opportunities.
- Support with managing merchandise supplier relationships and internal and external stock levels.
General
- The role requires some travel to events and meetings throughout the UK. Some weekend or evening work will also be required and time off in lieu will be given. Travel expenses will be reimbursed (exc. Travel to the Sarcoma UK office).
- Stay up to date with the latest knowledge in fundraising and ensure Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures follow best practice.
